Some 14 years ago, while Rick was driving home after attending the Four Square church in Pearblossom, Rick told Sheila he kept receiving a message from God that he should open a church in the Juniper Hills Association Club House, Sheila was a little skeptical and did not encourage Rick to follow his church goal.
Shortly thereafter, at a bible study meeting, Bill Myers asked Rick how he could tell if he was receiving a vision or simply dreaming that Rick was the pastor of a new church that they together started in Juniper Hills. Rick said it didn’t matter which way the message was being delivered to Bill. The important point was that it was the same message God was sending to them. Once Sheila heard Bill’s message, she was convinced that God wanted them to start a new church.
Rick, Sheila, Bill and Linda prepared a presentation and requested a meeting with the Board to see if they could obtain permission to hold services for this new church in the JHCA Club House. God was with them; permission was received and an annual lease was obtained.
A new church, Hilltop Christian Ministries, was planted! Rick’s daughter-in-law designed the church’s logo, a Board was established, the necessary legal requirements were completed, the church service was planned and the doors of Hilltop Christian Ministries were opened in May 2010.
